Karachi Kings is a Pakistani professional T20 franchise cricket team that participates in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The team is situated in Karachi, the capital city of Sindh province of Pakistan. The team was established in 2015, when Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) created the structure of the PSL. Salman Iqbal, the CEO of ARY Media Group, is the owner of the franchise, who bought it for US$26 million by making it the most expensive team of the tournament.
Shoaib Malik captained the Karachi Kings in the group matches of the first edition of the PSL in February 2016. He resigned from the captaincy before their playoff match against Islamabad United and then Ravi Bopara was named as the new captain of the team and he led them in their last game of the tournament. Former South African cricketer Mickey Arthur – the current coach of Pakistan national team – was the coach of the team and the coaching position of Kings is empty now.
